How Republicans manipulate Christian "wackos"

I know not many people read my blog. But those who do, please pass this on.

Yesterday, in a hearing in front of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, a memo was read into evidence from Mike Scanlon, an aide to criminally-indicted Republican and former House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, outlining the mobilization efforts the Republican Party uses to manipulate the base that gives them their power... the religious right.

And I quote:

Simply put we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them. The wackos get their information from the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the internet, and telephone trees.

How could any self-respecting Christian side with the GOP? Ideology aside... these people obviously loathe the Christian faithful and see them only as tools and pawns.

As VirginiaDem, a diarist over at DailyKos, who broke and publicized this story, wrote:

Well, here's their plan finally in black and white. This should piss off the wackos. It should anger the public. We're already fuming. If this quote is run as a DNC ad in every district in the country, we win both chambers in a landslide.

Amen. Spread the word. If the Republican Party has such disdain for Christianity, how can Christians continue to support the Republican Party?
